Campagna Studio Gallery offers one on one, private classes year round  with a hands on approach to the tools, techniques and process of wax modelling.

Lessons are 1.5 hours, times are flexible and classes are held throughout the week.

Wax and Bronze

In order to cast a sculpture into bronze it must be made of wax. Microcrystaline is a non-toxic, pliable wax which can be softened, carved, modelled, melted and reused. Simple household tools and a small table top work area is all that is needed to begin. A wax sculpture will last forever if it is not exposed to intense heat or it can be taken to a foundry and cast into bronze through the lost wax process. It takes about 5 weeks to cast a small wax sculpture into bronze. Through this method, the wax will be “lost” (melted) and the mould broken (to remove the sculpture). If an edition is desired it is necessary to make a rubber mould and produce a wax copy.
