Therapy Approaches
Emotionally Focused Therapy facilitates the awareness and understanding of couples' emotional needs and to help couples in building secure intimate relationship.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy addresses how our beliefs and thoughts affect our behaviours and emotions. The focus is to first identify our negative automatic thoughts that contribute to our problems, and then to replace them with rational positive self talk.
Emotion Focused Therapy helps us to increase the awareness and understanding of our true emotions. Instead of avoiding or suppressing them, we learn to experience them and to listen to their guidance in making choices and taking action in life.

Credentials
Dr. Lam is originally from Hong Kong. Since 1986, he has lived in different cities in North America. He has had the chance to work with people from different ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
After he received his doctoral degree in 1997, Dr. Lam obtained a position at the Student Health and Counselling Center at the Central Washington University.
In 2001, he made a major change in his life and moved from Washington State to Vancouver; BC, making this culturally diverse city his home.
